In 1912, two brothers, Nick and George Vletas emigrated from Greece to the US, moved to Abilene Texas and founded a candy business. Through two world wars, the depression and the roller coaster ride known as the oil boom, the Vletas remained strong. All the while, their secrets of fine candy making was handed down from generation to generation. Over the years the reputation of Vletas candies went far past the boundaries of Abilene, soon reaching national recognition. Many important events since have been graced by Vletas confections.
