A rich history marks The Carpenter House. Built in 1898 for Colonel Henry C. Overaker and his new bride, Miss Maude, the house was set within the heart of a cotton field which was part of his many land holdings. It took three years to complete. Prominent in social circles, Col. Henry was Plano's eighth Postmaster and the owner of the lumber yard. He helped organize and served as a Board of Director to Plano's 1st bank. He and other town members were instrumental in making Plano a 1st rate cotton market.
