read moreIn 1947, Sidney Banks initiated the addition of a ten by forty foot float on which boating and yachting activities could find a natural home tucked back on the point. That following summer, the Club hosted its first sailing races and its first Urbanna cruise. That first float was followed by a ten-slip pier crafted of hardwoods taken from Club property. Soon the Cavalier was known as one of the finest yacht clubs on the East Coast and membership continued to grow. Today, with our exciting new improvements, we will be poised to continue our rich history by offering the unique combination of Marina, Golf, Recreation and Event facilities to the families that make up our membership.

read moreCreated to serve the recreational needs of guests of the Cavalier Hotel, the course and grounds known as The Cavalier Country Club opened in 1929, and over the years was the site selected for a number of LPGA, PGA, VSGA and Mid-Atlantic tournaments, including the Virginia Beach Open. Walter Hagan served as our honorary Chairman and touring Pro in the 1950s. Here are just a few of the many heralded golfers that have competed here at the Cavalier.

Whether you're interested in conditioning and strength training for a sport like tennis, swimming or golf, are looking for a training regimen/physical therapy after an injury, or simply like to work out a few times a week, our Fitness Center is open every day for our members. Our on-staff trainers can help you develop a plan, or you are welcome to come in and use the advanced cardio and weight equipment to keep you in peak form.

We support year-round play with four traditionally maintained Har-Tru clay courts and two advanced performance Hydro-Clay courts, all well-lit for evening play. From November 1 to April 1 you'll find the four Har-Tru courts ready to play, as our seasonal tennis bubble maintains a climate-controlled environment for members and their guests.
