C. B. Perkins Co. Is a 3rd generation family business, with a guitar shop situated in San Jose, California. The business started in 1923 when Charles Blaine Perkins, a music teacher, needed working instruments for his students. He started to learn the art of stringed instrument repair, or luthiery. After a while, he decided to open his own shop, and he taught his son Kent the trade as well. Charles and Kent started building their own guitars in the late 1960s, as well as doing guitar repair and customizing.
