The CDFI Coalition is the unified national voice of community development financial institutions (CDFIs) Our goal is to encourage fair access to financial resources for America's underserved people and communities. Nationwide, over 1000 CDFIs serve economically distressed communities by delivering credit, capital and financial services that are often unavailable from mainstream financial institutions. CDFIs have loaned and invested over billions in our nation's most distressed communities. Even better, their loans and investments have leveraged billions more dollars from the private sector for development activities in low wealth communities across the nation.

read moreThe Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund, administered by the Department of Treasury, makes capital grants, equity investments and awards for technical assistance to community development financial institutions. The CDFI Fund was authorized by theRiegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994. Since its inception, the Fund has made more than $1.4 billion in awards to community development organizations and financial institutions. The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund Programhas three separate components: The Financial Assistance (FA) component, the Technical Assistance (TA) component and the Native American CDFI Assistance Through these three components, the CDFI Program provides loans, equity investments, and grants to CDFIs to support their capitalization and capacity building, enhancing their ability to create community development impact in underserved markets.
