Central Mass Physical Therapy
read moreWe are continuing to see new and existing patients via telehealth, but we are also open to see in-office visits. We have many new safety procedures in place and we are closely following CDC and local government guidelines. Most insurers continue to waive co-pay/deductible for telehealth (these are not waived for in-person visits). Masks: Nose/mouth covering mask is required for anyone entering our facility. We have disposable masks available for those who need one. Temperature checking: All patients will have forehead temperature checked on arrival and anyone >100.1 (per the CDC) will not be seen.
Technique Tuesday
read moreThis exercise is GREAT for those who spend long hours sitting at a desk, golfers, and runners! If you have a significant difference on the left and right then you should do more reps on the more challenging side!
Technique Tuesday
read moreYou should not feel your lower back working during this exercise! If you do feel it in your lower back first check that your tailbone is staying tucked and try doing it without lifting up as high. If you continue to feel it in your lower back you should likely work on double leg bridges before progressing to this exercise.
Technique Tuesday
read moreJust think how many shoulder exercises you do where your arm is the piece of the exercises that is moving. We tend to lift, push, and pull with our arms. As you can see, in this exercise the arm stays stable, which works the rotator cuff in a reverse manner that is important for optimal shoulder function. If you are having a tough time moving as 1 unit try making it slightly easier by doing the plank on your knees. Or, start off with a smaller movement and do not rotate down as far. If you do it with optimal form you will be able to progress to doing it on your feet and through the full range of motion before you know it!
Technique Tuesday
read moreThis exercise is great for anyone who reaches above shoulder height day-to-day and for anyone who does overhead lifting at the gym! Can you do this for 2-3 minutes without losing proper alignment? If you answered yes then it is time to go pick up some weights and move onto more challenging exercises! But, this can still be a great addition to your warm-up routine!
Technique Tuesday
read moreIf you perform a triceps dip and do not have the adequate shoulder mobility or stability it will cause the humeral head (the top of the arm bone where it meets the shoulder socket) to shear forward in the joint, which place a lot of strain on the anterior capsule of the shoulder (the front of the shoulder joint). There are MANY other ways to work your triceps that do not have this same risk. Today's technique Tuesday presents a fun alternative, but there are many other triceps exercise options that you could do to replace those dips!
