Since 1969, the Central Midlands Council of Governments (CMCOG) has been assisting local governments evolve local and regional plans within the four midlands counties (Fairfield, Lexington, Newberry, Richland) of South Carolina, as well as delivering local governments with planning and technical support to improve the quality of life within the region. CMCOG currently consists of 14 member governments and serves in excess of 600, 000 people by delivering a regional forum, which enables local officials to seek out common aims address regional concerns.

These activities include but are not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, grants management, contracts management, and employee benefits administration. The finance department staff prepares all internal and external financial statements. The finance staff provides leadership in the budgeting process for the COG providing historical data and fiscal projections.
