Children's Wear Digest

In the 1970's, the wholesale business began to erode as retailers began to order direct from manufacturers. As a result, in a shift of business focus, Philip W. Klaus Jr. Started a chain of kids's clothing stores called Small People in Richmond, Virginia in 1979. In 1987, the firm expanded into mail order with the mailing of the 1st Children's Wear Digest catalog. Response to the 1st catalog was overwhelming, with orders fulfilled directly from CWDKids' corporate offices by the whole team.
