Acupuncture is a several thousand year old discipline which originated in China and is now practiced throughout the world. It is commonly used for the treatment of pain and alleviation of symptoms. It involves the placement of very tiny needles in the body, often in various locations on the arms and legs. Conditions for which acupuncture may be useful include post-operative pain, nausea and vomiting, headache, back pain and spasm, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, infertility, breech version, hyperemesis of pregnancy, cancer pain and others.
