About Us
read moreCYC was established in 1970 to address the problems of juvenile delinquency and gang violence in San Francisco Chinatown by providing young men with alternatives and access to legitimate means to achieve their aspirations and independence. CYC grew its case management services and support network, gaining a unique reputation as the primary for Asian youth services. Responding to an increase in overdose cases among Asian youth, CYC implemented a drug education and prevention program in 1976. In 1987, CYC lobbied to have Federal Office of Substance Abuse Prevention fund the Asian Youth Abuse Program (AYSAP), a multiethnic Asian consortium dealing with substance abuse in our communities.
Mission
read moreCYC after school programs in the Mission and Excelsior districts provide educational and enrichment activities to complement traditional daytime classroom learning. CYC youth also spend time giving back to the neighborhood by volunteering at local senior centers and by teaching classes on how to use technology and how to prepare for disasters. CYC elementary after school program is designed to incorporate enrichment, educational, health, and wellness activities to supplement traditional classroom learning.
