When Christopher Columbus traveled the Ocean Blue to the Americas in 1492, he saw the Caribbean natives rolling tobacco leaves or smoking it in a pipe. After observing this unique custom, he brought these cigars back to Spain and the craft of cigar-making was perfected. As cigars are made by hand, the length of time spent rolling a cigar can improve its consistency. Cigars that are rolled for long durations of time by the same person will generally have a better taste and uniformity.
