In 1972, W. Patrick Clarke, the founder of CLS, started his career as a stockbroker on the eve of one of the worst bear markets in history. Mr. Clarke began his financial career at a time when other stockbrokers were struggling to survive. In 1975 he helped pioneer the concept of financial planning by organizing and operating a financial planning company in Omaha, Nebraska. His aim was to aid investors with their financial aims. In 1989, Mr. Clarke was the motivating partner in creating the money management company CLS Investments (CLS)
