Commonwealth Academy 1st opened its doors in the fall of 1997 in Fairfax County with just a handful of students. The school was born from the deep commitment and love of parents for their kids, and their company belief that regardless of learning differences, their kids could be successful if the proper accommodations were available. By the spring of 2002, enrollment had grown to 37 students, and plans were made to move the school to its present location in the Del Ray community of Alexandria.
