read moreMany people seem to believe homelessness can be stereotyped into the panhandler, the beggar, the bum. In fact, homelessness does not seem to conform to any stereotype. The homeless among us are our neighbors, our coworkers, our family and our friends. They are victims of circumstance which have resulted in a condition of homelessness. The National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty states that each year approximately 3.5 million unique individuals experience homelessness in America. 1.35 million, or 39%, of them are children.
read moreThe Community Kitchen does have paid staff to maintain our services. However, we could not operate, let alone be successful, without extensive volunteer support. Groups and individual volunteers are needed year-round. To learn more, click the images below to learn more about specific volunteer needs and opportunities.
