This photograph of our facility was taken just before it opened in April 1961. The clinic was built by Dr. Dennis DeJong and Dr. Norris Boe to replace their old practice, situated about one mile N of this building. Today's Salem residents might be amused that Commercial Street was two lanes huge and had no sidewalks or bike-paths at the time. The building was off by itself and surrounded by farmland. When the clinic was built it was truly on the S side of town.
