I graduated from Rockhurst University with a degree in Chemistry and Philosophy. From there, I attended the University of Missouri in Columbia and obtained my medical degree. I served there for residency and finished in 1986 as the Chief Resident for Pediatrics. My wife and I have four sons, all of whom attended Mizzou. Three are now also physicians. I am very involved with quality initiatives at St. Luke's and at Children's Mercy hospitals.
