Dragon Dojo
read moreI have a strong influence from Shotokan basics taught by my good friend, fourth generation stylist, Sensei Leroy Razo. His seminars and personal teachings have helped my beginner students understand how to create power in their stances and strikes. My son is a Cheerleader for a Competition Squad in town and has participated in Marching Band in Middle and High School. I have an alumni third year Black Belt, Taylor Townsend that is a member of the Blue Knights in Denver, and we often watch their practice and performances.

We were alrady using a Jo for Demo Team exhibitions and had included the Jo instead of the Bo in classes. We nearly knocked ourselves out the first day and went home with cuts and bruises on our heads and face. We came back practicing with determination and motivation because this was new and flashy. We broke down the movements into basics and for the first year it was very difficult and complicated.

For Halloween we rent a huge hall and have trophies specially made with creatures on them as awards for best costumes. The little guys love to walk our Parades during State Fair time and Sensei Phil always makes a cool Dragon to carry.
