In 1947, James H. Abell purchased Green and Company, an insurance agency that had began business in the 1930's. Around the same time, his father-in-law, B. L. Beaty joined the agency as a real estate agent. Buff Abell operated the agency until his death in 1976. At that time, John Holiman, a partner in the agency, purchased Mr. Abell's interest and continued the agency until 1985, when John Hibler purchased the Abell-Beaty Agency. Mr. Hibler had purchased another agency, Garone Insurance Agency. .
