The Marcus Corporation was established by Ben Marcus in 1935 with the opening of a single movie theatre in Ripon, Wisconsin. This marked the launch of what would become one of the nation's leading entertainment and lodging firms. Today, The Marcus Corporation is a publicly held firm listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol MCS. Ben's son, Stephen H. Marcus, is chairman of the firm, while Stephen's son, Gregory S. Marcus, is president and chief executive officer of The Marcus Corporation.
