ESA is committed to doing our part in protecting sight with a pledge to serve all and do so equally, without prejudice. We support and defend the right to safe, caring, and equal treatment for all in our practice: patients and teammates. We are in this together! When I had my consultation, I was 100% sure that I wanted Dr. Jones to do my surgery. From start to finish Dr. Jones talked me through every step, I stayed calm and alert since I was so prepared.

Tears are made up of 3 components: an oily layer, a watery layer, and a mucus layer. When the meibomian gland is blocked, the glands do not consistently produce the oil necessary for a stable tear film. This is referred to as meibomian gland disorder or MGD, which is present in 86% of dry eye patients. There are a number of treatments available for dry eye, including artificial tears, gland expression procedures, supplements, hot compresses, as well as incorporating eye healthy foods into your diet.

It can occur in younger individuals, but it becomes increasingly common as we age. Our doctors have extensive experience with the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. We are equipped with the best available technology for diagnosis. This includes the latest equipment to test peripheral vision and to measure eye pressure and blood flow. Each location also has a scanning laser imaging device used to analyze the optic nerve on a microscopic level, not possible to appreciate with standard examination or photography.

Epi-LASIK actually combines advantages from both PRK and conventional LASIK into one procedure. Epi-Lasik is a viable alternative to these two procedures and is performed by our surgeons at Eye Surgery Associates. Epi-LASIK involves cutting an ultra thin flap from tissue known as epithelium that covers the very front of the eye's surface or cornea. Epi-LASIK differs from LASIK primarily based around the type of flap created.
