The Fort Collins Food Co-operative is a member-owner structured co-op. This matters that as a member-owner you are invested directly in, and partial owner of, the Coop itself. Below you'll see a specific description of the member-owner benefits. The Board of Directors is elected by the member-owners to aid lead in the decision making process of the business. There is a General Manager, currently five department heads, and an in-house marketing team, who all lead in efforts to promote and support the Coop and its team daily.

Mountain Avenue Market makes it easy to load up on everything local, organic and natural. With over 2,000 local items throughout the store, if they make it in Colorado we probably have it. What's more, there's a good chance the person standing next to you in the aisle made something we sell in the store! Also, we offer over 200 items in our Bulk department, including hard to find bulk goods.
History of the Co-op
read moreThe Food Co-op was started in the early '70's by a group of CSU students who wanted to bring healthy, affordable, local food to Northern Colorado. The original concept was as a buying club, where members purchased whole cases together, to save money. Before too long a store front was acquired, and bulk foods were put out in a "scoop-your-own" fashion. All members helped in the operation of the store, as a component of membership. Fast-forward 40-plus years, and the Food Co-op is still a vital part of the Fort Collins natural and local food system.
