Clubs shape their local agendas to meet particular community requirements. Each local chapter benefits from membership, service, material, and program support from state and national Federation levels. GFWC headquarters in Washington, DC, a National Historic Landmark, houses the Women's History and Resource Center, a selection of books, periodicals and records devoted to women's history and women in volunteerism. Illinois is proud to have 250 clubs and almost 8000 members of GFWC working hard to improve their communities.

One statewide example is our relationship with Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) Illinois. Since 1994, our GFWC Illinois members have been working to eradicate the devastating effects of child abuse through a project we call Our Promise. A Safe Place for Every Child. We raise funds and awareness at our annual Blue Ribbon Fashion Show and Luncheon held each year in early April.
