With great pleasure I announce that GreenMount has been accepted officially as an AIMS school. This has been a long and arduous process over few years and it is especially heartening to know that AIMS recognizes our school as one that meets its rigorous standards for excellence. I was told today that we did a perfect job with our self-study and final report and that we should be proud of the quality of our work.

read moreThe GreenMount School began as the dream child of six adventurous parents devoted to a model for child-centered education. The school opened in 1993 as a one-room, church-basement parent co-op, and now GreenMount is a thriving school community inhabiting the entire building and grounds of the former Wyman Park Recreation Center in the Remington neighborhood of Baltimore. We have nine grades of wonderful students in kindergarten through 8, a talented team of teachers and administrative staff, and a dedicated cadre of parent volunteers.

read moreWe are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information at admissions@greenmountschool.org. It is possible that a child will be placed in the wait pool. In the event an appropriate opening becomes available at a later date, parents will be notified.

read moreFulfilling The GreenMount School mission depends on the presence of a diverse mix of children in the classroom. The school seeks to enroll children who are highly engaged learners with capacity for self-direction who would thrive in a small school setting. Some learning differences can be addressed at GreenMount, but we do not offer a special education program. The school environment is best suited to students and families that value co-operative achievement, community activism, and urban life.
