Modern cataract surgery involves removing the cataract through a very small opening on the cornea and replacing the cloudy lens with a clear plastic implant called an Intraocular Lens (IOL). The lens implants are made of acrylic, silicone or other types of inert plastic that remains indefinitely in the eye. Dr. Erika Sanchez and Dr. John Kim uses microsurgical techniques that usually eliminate the need for any stitches.
