JR Lighting. Is a complete service firm, which rents and sells lighting and grip equipment to the film and television industry. It was set up in July 1991 by James JR Reid and Mary Skrenes and incorporated on June 18, 1993. It started because JR had designed and built a fluorescent interior Car Kit that plugged into a cigarette lighter, which he rented upon occasion. JR's true love was lighting for film. Mary wondered why he didn't do more Gaffing. He said he needed gear. She said, so let's buy gear. So, they bought a truckload of equipment from his, then retired Gaffer (and mentor) Jim Blair.
