Situated in Kensington, California, Kensington Nursery School (KNS) is a parent cooperative preschool. KNS provides a morning program with parent participation and an afternoon program without parent participation. There is an after-school program for Kindergarteners. Our program is play-based and supplies a fun, safe environment to enhance kids's development socially, emotionally, creatively, physically and congnitively. Kids from the ages of two years and nine months through Kindergarten are admitted.

Philosophy
read moreAt KNS, we respect each child as an individual, and celebrate each child's unique characteristics. Because children learn at different rates and with varying styles, a variety of activities are offered. Opportunities are provided for children to explore in all areas of development: social, emotional, physical, and cognitive. Activities are balanced: indoor, and outdoor, large and small groups, energetic, quiet and reflective. Daily routines and weekly rhythms are developed, providing a safe environment with predictable rules.
Co-Op Responsibilities
read moreThe wonderful part of a parent cooperative is the involvement of families. KNS has a great community with fun social events, just 5 meetings per year, some "Fun"draising, two annual work parties, and our amazing annual Science Fun Fair. Co-op job participation is necessary for the existence of KNS. Co-op jobs support the morning and afternoon programs for the children, provide administrative assistance, maintain the facility (both indoor and outdoor) and are responsible for fundraising. Parent Teaching: Parent teachers are a vital part of the KNS morning program.
Enrollment Process
read moreClick on our Contacts page, call the school at 510-524-7963 or email knschool@sbcglobal.net to arrange a tour of Kensington Nursery School. You are welcome to bring your child to the tour as long as they remain with us. Tours are given during school hours. The tours run about 30 minutes. Currently KNS is not offering in person tours please click on Virtual Tour for a peek inside KNS! Then give is a call 510-524-7963 with any additional information and request an Application. During your tour you will receive a packet describing our programs and an application for enrollment.
Programs
read moreKensington Nursery School offers four different programs with the option to add extended care in the mornings or evenings. Children are required to attend three to five mornings, afternoons or a combination of both.
