King Harvest History
read moreIn 1976 King Harvest sat on the corner of 24th and Ankeny. At that time it was a small hippie grocery store where you could find all sorts of interesting things from Macrobiotic to Organic; all before eating that way was "trendy." In Portland, King Harvest, was one of the first counter culture food stores; there really weren't too many alternatives. There was a sign in the window that read, "The Poor Man's Friend" and it certainly had its following. By 1986 King Harvest had moved to 15th and Morrison where it became primarily a juice manufacturing factory.
