Religious Organization in Berkeley, CA
Religious Organization in Berkeley, CA Kol Hadash (New Voice in Hebrew) was organized in 1987 as the Northern California Chapter of the Society for Humanistic Judaism, by a handful of individuals who were searching for a way to celebrate their cultural Jewish identity nontheistically. Today, Kol Hadash is a lay-led community with about 60 households over five counties in the Bay Area, primarily in Alameda County, where we meet for our community functions. We strive to start havurot in the San Francisco and Peninsula areas in hopes of further community expansion.

Kol Hadash Northern California
read moreKol Hadash ("New Voice" in Hebrew) is a S.F. Bay Area community for Jews, their families and friends who celebrate and explore our rich Jewish culture and history without religious belief in a spiritual being. We understand Judaism in the context of human history, and we renew our culture in the context of humanism. We are committed to promoting Jewish literacy, culture and values to present and future generations. This includes observation and celebration of Jewish holidays, rituals, and life cycle events in a manner that marries Jewish and humanist ideas and values.
