Patrick Curry, like most children, started his fitness career early. He participated in those sports that most tiny towns had to provide. By the time he was fifteen, he focused only on gymnastics. After competing in high school, he went to college where he joined the gymnastics staff at the University of New Mexico under head coach Rusty Mitchell. Patrick was with UNM for three years when he suffered a knee injury. Once Patrick completed his eligibility at UNM, he retired from competitive gymnastics.
