
Refugee and Immigration Services (RIS) has a long and successful history in helping necomers start life anew. We were established in 1975, as the Diocesan response to the huge numbers of refugee arrivals at the end of the Vietnam War. A Norfolk regional office was set up in 1979 and a Roanoke office opened in 1980. We currently have resettled many 1000's of refugees from Afghanistan, Bosnia, Burma, Cuba, Ethiopia, Haitia, Iraq, Laos, Cambodia, Liberia, Sudan, Somalia, Ukraine, and Vietnam into in the Greater Richmond, Hampton Roads, and Roanoke Valley, Virginia areas
