Laser Eye Center Of Hawaii

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the excimer laser for the treatment of myopia or nearsightedness in October 1995. Laser Eye Center of Hawaii (LEC) officially opened its doors in February 1996 and was the 1st center in Hawaii to specialize in laser vision correction services. LEC was 1st to provide the procedure known as Photorefractive Keratectomy or PRK. In 1997, the 1st Laser Assisted in-situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) procedure in Hawaii was performed at LEC, and it has since earned popularity as the refractive surgery treatment of choice.
