Benefits of Preplanning
read moreMany who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice. Preplanning provides you with the time needed to make practical, detailed decisions that reflect your standards, lifestyle, taste and budget. And we assure you and your family that the choices you make will be carried out as planned.
Green Burials
read moreWith the increasing interest in learning about environmentally friendly funeral alternatives, we can make available to our families service and merchandise that are specifically designed to limit the environmental impact of earth burial and cremation. A Green Burial is a simple and natural burial that ensures the burial site remains as natural as possible. The interment can be done using a bio-degradable casket or shroud. The burial can take place in a section of a conventional cemetery (hybrid) or in a cemetery that is dedicated entirely to green practices.
Our History
read moreThe L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, one of Michigan's largest and most respected family owned funeral firms, began it's legacy in 1954. As husband and wife, Larry and Gerry Griffin opened the doors to their first funeral home on Plymouth Road in Detroit. Gerry was one of three women in the State of Michigan licensed and serving as a full-time funeral director. She was part of a grass roots effort in developing the Michigan Women's Funeral Director Association. Together Larry and Gerry Griffin laid the foundation of outstanding professional care, guiding families through the most difficult time of their lives.
