Frequent Questions
read moreFunerals fill an important role for those mourning the loss of a loved one. By providing surviving family and friends with an atmosphere of care and support in which to share thoughts and feelings about death, funerals are the first step in the healing process. It is the traditional way to recognize the finality of death. Funerals are recognized rituals for the living to show their respect for the dead and to help survivors begin the grieving process. If you request immediate assistance, yes. If the family wishes to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, that's perfectly acceptable.
Local Grief Support
read moreFollowing the death of a loved one it is natural to spend time grieving your loss. It is a time of emotional highs and lows that can grip some of us tighter than others. At Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services we provide the families we serve with care and support from the moment they call us to well after the funeral ends. We also have a number of free grief support materials and a list of area support groups available to further assist those dealing with loss and separation.

Our annual Holiday Grief Workshop, held in November, is an important resource for families preparing for their first holiday season following a loss.
Veterans Headstones
read moreThe Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. For eligible veterans that died on or after Nov. 1, 1990, VA may also provide a headstone or marker for graves that are already marked with a private headstone or marker. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).
Pre-Arrangements
read moreTaking the time to pre-plan your funeral is a thoughtful decision that gives you and your family peace of mind. It allows you to make decisions you feel are right for you and keeps your family from having to make difficult decisions in their time of grief. Families can now make arrangements in the privacy and comfort of their own home. Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services has a state certified agent for burial agreements, who is solely dedicated to advance planning. Lynette Schiefer takes the time to carefully explain your options and record your decisions.
