Balsam Brands determined that Maine Cottage's domestically produced product and multiple consumer touch points did not fit well in their portfolio and decided to divest the brand. The folks at the Seattle-based premium outdoor furniture company, Thos. Baker, fell in love with Maine Cottage-the brand's loyal customer base, knack for color, and brand awareness. Thos. Baker merged with Maine Cottage to form a new company called Coastal Brands. And just like that, Maine Cottage was introduced to droves of color lovers on the West Coast.
