About Us
read moreFounded in 1975, Mandala Children's House was created to serve the children and families of the East Foothills community of San Jose. The school curriculum follows a developmental model enhanced by the learning practice of Maria Montessori. The mandala is a universal symbol representing wholeness and harmony. We chose Mandala as the name for our school because it symbolizes our commitment to the development of the whole child. A preschool education at Mandala grows the whole person. Academics are highly valued, as is emotional literacy and character development.
Collaboration and Teamwork
read moreMandala is a rewarding place to work because we are all professionals who care about young children and we share similar values about educating them. We are committed to supporting each other in doing our best. Mandala has always been committed to a participatory style of management in keeping with its philosophy. Employees at each level are given independence and self-determination in decision-making. The teachers work together in individual classroom teams, and no one makes a decision independently.
Family and Child Services
read moreOne of our core values is to serve the WHOLE CHILD. This has meant being a different kind of preschool that has resource professionals on staff, that intentionally teaches character-building and empathy, and that is dedicated to early intervention. We have integrated emotional wellness concepts into our daily program. We take very seriously our commitment to give all children the opportunity to be successful. We are often the first eyes to look at a child among peers of the same age in a larger social setting.
Our Programs
read moreIn all of our programs, children are intentionally mixed in age at Work Time, followingthe tradition of Montessori classrooms, but they are placed with peers of their own age or developmental level for Table Time learning and Small Group. Children remain with their same Small Group teacher throughout the year.
Enrollment
read moreWe enroll children throughout the year as we have openings. Some parents are interested in enrolling their child this year, while others are interested in observing for the next school year. Schedule a time to visit us! Once you have come for a tour or to an Open House session with your child, we will recommend the class that best fits for your child developmentally. If we have an opening in the class you are interested in, we will give you a registration form and instructions for completing the required paperwork in order to register your child.
Preschool
read moreWe offer class options to meet the unique developmental needs of EACH child. Class placements are made by the Administrative staff in close collaboration with parents. The classes below are suited for children in the 3-5 year age group. We will help you determine the best fit for your child. Children need to be three years old and potty trained by September 1st to attend this traditional Montessori preschool class. Children are learning academics through self-organizing Montessori materials that teach math, language, reading and writing through whole-body learning experiences.
