I started in this business in 1978 as an Evinrude outboard and OMC stern drive dealer. In 1982 I expanded the dealership to include a full machine shop facility, since I was deeply involved in outboard racing and high performance engine building. I was one of three machine shop facilities in Dade County serving the marine dealers in south Florida. In 1984 I began a 20 plus year relationship with several other companies who either were in the business of buying and selling boats or were in yacht management.

read moreThere are many good waxes. I like 3M products, but most paste waxes for fiberglass will work fine. Try to avoid wash n wax products. You need to get a good coat built up on the fiberglass to protect it from the environment and the sun. To protect it from the sun, i advise the use of a quality made boat cover. Tarps will do the trick, but you can't tow with a tarp and the UV rays destroy them too quickly. If you store your boat during the winter, be sure to add fuel stabalizer to the fuel tank before winterizing.

In comparing oem to aftermarket parts, the distinction lies in the fact that oem parts are updated more often and therefore are better for your engine. In the sub categories of aftermarket parts, electrical is one area to avoid aftermarket, the quality is never as good as oem. In gaskets, some aftermarket parts are actually better.

read moreTo select the correct propeller, you need your boat loaded the way you use it normally. At full throttle, the engine must be able to reach the upper portion of its maximum rpm range. It should be able to reach this rpm range without excessive triming of the engine and with the boat on normal plane. For the best overall performance, select the largest diameter propeller available and select the pitch to allow the engine to max out the rpm at the top of its range. A high performance propeller available from your local dealer is a propeller designed to allow your boat's engine to turn a larger diameter and pitched propeller than it physcially can.
