Freight Services in Boston, MA
Freight Services in Boston, MA MBTA mechanic Charlie Ambrose Griffith Jr. Will fire up the diesel engine of the orange 1957 GMC bus and take the antique for one last spin today, as he says farewell to the T's heavy-maintenance shop in Everett - the bus home and in many ways his, too. Griffith, known as Choo Choo Charlie in the bus repair yard, is retiring after three decades as one of the T's most dedicated employees, having amassed 270 ill days, after at least twenty five years - that is as far back at the computer records go - without calling in ill at all.

The History of the T
read moreBoston might be the birthplace of the American Revolution, but did you know it's also the birthplace of public transit in America? The country's very first subway tunnels are still in use today under the Boston Common, and people still take ferries into the city the way they did all the way back in 1631. Our trains and boats are much different now, but they've been an important part of our city for more than 300 years. In the 1600s, Boston was just a peninsula, connected to Roxbury by a thin strip of land.
