Mcalister-Smith Funeral Home

Funeral Services in Charleston, SC
McAlister-Smith Funeral Home has been serving the people of Charleston during times of individual loss since 1886. Established on Meeting Street in historic downtown Charleston, we relocated to a modern facility on Wentworth Street over forty years ago, and expanded to Mt. Pleasant and Goose Creek. In 2008 we opened two new chapels in West Ashley and Goose Creek. Our Mount Pleasant chapel is still at it's original location. For over 125 years, we've been privately owned & operated, by funeral specialists who live right here in the area.

About Us
read moreWhen John McAlister founded McAlister Funeral Home in 1886, he and his family believed in providing personal and caring services before, during, and after a funeral, placing particular emphasis on the importance of family. That tradition of superior service has continued for well over a century. In 1999, the Smith family joined the McAlisters to form the McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation. Together, owners Archie D. Willis, III, great-grandson of founder John McAlister, and Mark Smith, a Bamberg, SC native expanded operations.
