Minnesota Online High School
read moreIf it weren't for MNOHS I would never have discovered my passion for writing and literature. MNOHS helped me improve my self-esteem so much and that has benefited me on many levels not just academically. Our older daughter graduated from MNOHS. Our younger daughter finished 9 th grade with an online program in Kansas, where we moved. However, we have found MNOHS to be significantly superior. Though it means paying tuition, she will attend MNOHS full time. Before enrolling in the Student Leadership Course, I did not realize that the MNOHS staff is continuously looking at ways to improve the learning process for their students.

Real learning
read moreJanet, the mother of a MNOHS summer student told me this story: Her son, Rob, like many varsity athletes wanted to knock off the required health course in the summer. Their family chose the MNOHS Health Issues and Choices course, while most of his teammates and friends chose their district's online option. One evening, some of Rob's friends we hanging out at Janet's and she invited them to stay for supper. Rob brought a notebook to the supper table and began to take notes. What do you do? We read stuff online and answer the questions.

My MNOHS
read moreStudents and staff are encouraged to take photos to express what attending and working at MNOHS means to each of us. Play the video to see all eight themes. We started with "This is my school uniform" because MNOHS is truly come as you are. There is no dress code and no one knows if you don't have name brand jeans or shoes. Students often know little about what one another looks like but a lot about who you are. Sometimes students who have traded blog comments and connected around ideas all semester meet at a school social event or even at graduation and are surprised to discover that they have been getting along great with someone they might never have spoken to at a bricks-and-mortar school.
