In 1992 I asked my parents if I could use the garden in their back yard that they had not used in years. They happily agreed (as long as I shared with them) I bought a roto-tiller at a yard sale. I knew I needed to fertilize the fenced in area if I wanted my work to amount to anything. A huge reason I wanted to grow my own veggies was I did not want the chemicals that are in the produce sold in stores. A couple of organic gardening books that were advertised in Ed McMahon's you may already be a winner caught my eye.
