read moreApproximately 2000 members including health system pharmacists faculty and students are members of The New York State Council of Health-system Pharmacists (NYSCHP). NYSCHP is your representation regarding constantly changing legislative and regulatory issues on both the state and national government level, and provides members the opportunity to join grass-roots movements for your voice to be heard in those arenas. The Council offers Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) continuing education courses to fulfill your career requirements, and is the premier provider of state-wide conferences, training programs, and meetings throughout the year for health-system pharmacists to network and learn.

read moreThe NYSCHP's membership committee recently collaborated with the Council office to establish geographic boundaries for the nine local chapters. This initiative was undertaken to help the local chapters better understand the regions they serve and to help current and prospective members identify where they can best connect (see http://www.nyschp.org/chapters). While we've been drawing barriers, the CCC has been busy breaking them down through their distance learning initiatives: they are striving to provide "cross-chapter" online continuing education programming to all NYSCHP members.

These technicians work in pharmacies, including those found in grocery and drug stores, and in hospitals. Most work full time, but many work part time. The median annual wage for pharmacy technicians was $30,410 in May 2015. Employment of pharmacy technicians is projected to grow 9 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. Increased demand for prescription medications will lead to more demand for pharmaceutical services.
