Community Center in Waukegan, IL Northern Illinois Food Bank, a non-profit, 501(c)3) charity organization and member of Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network) was established in May 1983 in Wheaton, Illinois and distributed 7, 000 pounds of food in its 1st month. NIFB has grown tremendously in the past 27 years - distributing more than 36. 5 million pounds of food in 2010 and currently serving over 520 food-assistance sites in 13 northern Illinois counties. In 1995, Northern Illinois Food Bank relocated its headquarters to St. Charles, Illinois.

Volunteer Opportunities
read moreDo you have an interest in working with volunteer groups during food sorting and packing shifts? Here's a unique opportunity to give back while learning to lead packing projects and manage volunteers ages 8 and up. Training is provided, and the minimum time commitment is at least two volunteer shifts per month. Weekday mornings and afternoons, evenings, and Saturday morning shifts are available.
