Our martial arts program is among the worlds best. Okamoto's Karate has a tournament record unparalleled in the history of Alaskan sport karate. Through the years, Okamoto's has won 1000's of awards including City, State, Regional, National, and World titles. Okamoto's world championship staff, Team Alaska, was featured on ESPN's worldwide telecast of the U. S. Open/I. S. K. A. World Martial Arts Championships, both in 1999 and 2000. The group has appeared in Black Belt Magazine and on the cover of Alaska Sports Magazine. Our success in competition stems from a tradition of excellence, which is integrated into every martial arts class.

I had tried a few karate classes as a teenager, but the instructors weren't very good, and I never followed through with the program. At Okamoto's, our experience has been nothing but positive. As for me, I've benefited from regular exercise, stress relief, and a boost in my own confidence as well. The curriculum is interesting and engaging, and the instructors are wonderful with kids. It's hard work, especially at the advanced level, but the rewards have been substantial.

Learn how to protect yourself with self-defense, or come learn the top Karate techniques. If you have children, we can talk about how our instructors can work with you to help increase grades, improve behavior, and instill confidence. Once we complete a complementary introduction class, you will know whether or not it is something you would like to pursue.
