Old Northside Bed & Breakfast
Accommodation & Lodging in Indianapolis, IN
Built in 1885 by Herman C. DeWenter, a German immigrant who became a prominent Indiana Industrialist, this unique brick residence is considered the prime example of Romanesque Revival architecture in the city. The mansion has been renovated in an elegant European turn-of-the-century motif to retain its warm ambiance with the original maple slat flooring and incomparable hand-carved cherry and mahogany woodwork. The present owner has imported European craftsmen and artists to restore the parlor's sculptured ceiling and hand painted murals on the walls and ceilings.
