IcareLabs was originally established in 1968 as an optical prescription laboratory in St. Petersburg, Florida by John W. Payne and a group of optical associates; whom he had worked with in the optical business for a number of years. The initial precepts under which the firm was set up, which still prevail today, are rapid service, competitive price and best quality. The firm expanded into the retail market through the Optimart division in 1989. Optimart distributes a comprehensive line of optical products to the client. We're dedicated to delivering the best quality products and services.

Mr. Payne also founded IcareLabs, an optical prescription laboratory in St. Petersburg, FL in 1968, which is also operated by the Payne family and produces lenses for Opti-mart. Today, Opti-mart remains a family-owned business managed by Mr. Payne's sons, Scott and Skip. Opti-mart is now reaching into the third generation of Paynes! Each of Mr. Payne's grandsons either work for the company or are closely involved through our lens manufacturer, IcareLabs.

read moreVision Specialty Associates, PA is an independent group of doctors that practice inside all of the Optimart stores. Each doctor is board-certified and licensed to practice in the state of Florida. We have an optometrist in every location and an ophthalmologist rotating between locations! These dedicated doctors and the caring staff at Optimart have earned the trust of our patients and the many medical providers with whom we coordinate patient vision care. Dr. Day is a native of London, UK. He attended several universities in London, Paris and Cologne.
