For fifteen years, the Orange Bowl Committee has staged the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic, played at the BankAtlanticCenter in Sunrise. The 2008 event featured anchor schools University of Florida and FloridaStateUni-versity. Quality match-ups have highlighted the Classic's history with over thirty programs playing in the postseason. This year with the University of Miami meeting FAU and the University of Florida taking on Richmond promises to be another outstanding event with three of the teams winning more than 19 games and competing in the post-season a year ago.

read moreEric Poms was officially announced as the fifth Chief Executive Officer of the Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) on May 4, 2006. Poms is in his 26th year with the OBC, and has nearly 30 years of managerial and operational experience in collegiate athletics. Poms has been with the Committee since 1993, serving as Chief Operating Officer prior to moving into his current position. A Miami Killian High School and University of Florida graduate, Poms sets the strategic vision for the organization, working closely with the Orange Bowl Committee's volunteer leadership.
