The organization traces its roots back to the 1920s with the invention of the upward-acting sectional garage door. Independent Overhead Door distributorships were founded, using the Overhead Door trade name along with the distinctive red ribbon logo, in Peoria, IL (1954) Springfield, IL (1962) and Davenport, IA (1958) Over the next half century these distributorships became the leading suppliers of overhead door products and services in their market areas.
