Papa Murph's Tavern and primitive campground supplies a great campsite for a fraction of what the other campsites charge. Plus, we let you come and go as you please. Your on vacation, you do not need a chaperon and definitely don't need a curfew! After your day of fun at Starved Rock State Park or Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort, relax in the tavern and play some pool, video games, juke box and of course fill up on Pizza or other food items.

read morePapa Murphs Campground is situated just minutes from the Historic Starved Rock State Park. We also are next door to Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort & Indoor Water Park. Please contact the tavern directly with any camping questions whatsoever. We are a Primitive Campground. This means tents only. We do not have hookups for Motorhomes or RV's. We will supply a piece of ground and a fire pit. There are bathrooms in the tavern or a port-a-potty on site. Sorry, but we do not have showers. Tavern sells firewood, ice, food and of course, carry out service.

read morePapa Murph is back! He works the night shift on Fridays and can often be found at the end of the bar, usually staring into space wishing he was at the lake fishing. Don't let this intimidate you though. Just walk on in, order a beer or two and tell him you want to pitch a tent for the night or weekend. If beer isn't your style, he loves to make Manhattans! Tell him you saw his mug on the Net! In fact, I've heard a rumor that someone actually saw him swimming in the lake in his speedo instead of fishing.
