Llewellyn ( L. C. Poitier, was born on November 26, 1926 in Deerfield Beach, Florida, to Rev. Hartmond and Harriet Poitier. Nelly was born in Midway, Florida on January 9, 1924 to Charlie and Alberta Ford. Through a fortunate turn of events L. C. Met Nellie Ford in Ft. Pierce where she was teaching school, and they married on April 19, 1957. In 1956, Pompano Beach was a tiny close-knit but growing city with a population of approximately six thousand residents. Armed with a vision, Llewellyn invested countless hours working at Freeman Funeral Home to aid guarantee that the community received.
