I originally met Gus with Proper Prep Painters in March, 2025. He was one of two companies to visit the house and quote the project. Wife and I decided to wait at that time and since then the chipping paint on our kitchen island and Primary bath cabinets continued to worsen. Thanks Perry Homes for choosing the cheapest paint allowed to get to closing.

Thankfully, Gus followed up from time to time. He came back out to make sure every detail past and present would be addressed to exact specifications and vision. Design and scheduling were a breeze.

Huge thanks to project manager Franklin and co-painter, Miguel. The dynamic duo was early every morning and kept me updated to the minute on arrival and departure throughout. The job was completed on time with top notch professionalism, courtesy, tips going forward and they treated my home as if it were their own. Gus was also in communication each day and personally stopped by end of each day to discuss the work and project progress. I know more about paint than I ever did before the good, bad and everything in between from these guys.

Im sure there are several great people at Proper Prep, but do yourself a favor and ask for Franklin and Miguel. You wont be disappointed.

Gus, Franklin, Miguel, and Jay were fantastic from start to finish. Gus walked me through every step of the process and never left out any details. Emily was also wonderful to work with. Emily came to my home for a free design consultation and helped me choose colors. Gus ordered the samples and the arrived within just a couple of days, which made things so easy. They were patient, helpful, and always quick to respond to my texts.

My cabinets now look like a high-end, professional finish. Even my contractor was impressed. I couldnt be happier and would absolutely recommend Proper Prep Painters to anyone in Houston looking for quality cabinet painters.

Gus and his team did an Amazing job!! Proper Prep Painters refinished our front doors. They were reasonably priced, came when they said, communicated throughout, and did fantastic workall during a busy holiday season. Extremely professional and polite. Would highly recommend!

We are thrilled with our lighter and brighter kitchen thanks to Proper Prep Painters! Gus came out to look at the kitchen, reviewed the entire process and what type of paint he recommended for longevity/durability. I also really appreciated the owner connecting me with an interior designer for a color choice consultation. Their name sums up our experience- my backsplash/countertops/floors were safely covered, wall edges were taped, and the kitchen area was enclosed with plastic sheeting. Gus team sanded down our twenty year old glazed cabinets before and after priming. I appreciate that the owner was on site supervising the crew- which allowed me to leave here and there throughout the two day job. Proper Prep Painters did an amazing job on our twenty year old cabinets and we couldnt be happier with our new look. We have already recommended them to family/friends- and look forward to painting the rest of the house before the holidays.

Update: Proper Prep Painters returned to paint our living room just AFTER our hardwood floors were restored (sanding/staining/sealing). Gus and crew went above and beyond to protect the floors throughout the paint job with heavy duty protective sheeting. The paint job was challenging- tall ceilings with beams and multiple skylights. We couldnt be happier with the results- check out the crisp lines between the baseboards and quarter round trim. The crew showed up every morning on time at 8am, were a pleasure to have in my home, and left the work space tidy each day. Highly recommend Proper Prep Painters!

Owner Gus did a very professional job listening to my needs, helping me get paint samples and advising me on paint sheen. His quote was thorough with no hidden fees or surprises. He and his crew arrived on time, were easy to communicate with and did a fantastic job with my interior paint job. In addition to painting, they also did a minor repair of a drywall crack. I would highly recommend them.

We had a great experience with Proper Prep Painters! We had our kitchen cabinets repainted, as well as all the white trim in our house repainted and a couple of small repairs too display shelves. They did a great job! It showed up on time every day, they paid attention to all the details, They were very thorough and complete and the paint job looks great! When the work required a little more expertise. They called in a carpenter to ensure the repair was done correctly. Klen the project manager was onsite painting with the crew and sent me a text every day with what work was accomplished and a text every morning to know exactly when to expect them to arrive which we appreciated! I also liked that they had females in their work crew as well. Everyone seemed to be happy working there and they cleaned up v Well every day. I would definitely recommend them if you need interior painting done. We rehired them as well for exterior shutter paint but the work has not started yet. Prices are reasonable and power came onsite nearly every day to check work and ensure we were happy. All expectations were laid out in writing and we had zero issues.

I would highly recommend Proper Prep Painters! I tried painting my doors black myself and ended up with an uneven, ashy finish on several of them. I reached out to Gus, and he was a man of his word sent Klen and a helper right away. They did an incredible job: no mess, beautiful results, and my doors look brand new. I honestly regret ever trying to do it myself. Ill definitely be using Proper Prep Painters again and referring them for all my future painting needs!

What can I say but that this was one of the best, if not the best, contractor experiences I have ever had. I am a homeowner of over 40 years (six homes, five states), and we designed and built the home we've occupied for the last 10 years. I've had lots of contractor experience before ,during, and since we moved into our forever home.

Proper Prep Painters did a beautiful job: showing up on time, respecting the property, grounds, and outdoor spaces, while finishing on time. Daily inspections conducted by the management were helpful, and concerns were thoroughly addressed or clarified.

I hired Proper Prep to paint some metal racks for my machine shop. The process was straight forward and easy - Gus guided us through the right products to use and quoted it out a few different ways so we could see pricing for different scopes. This was a great experience with Gus, being a professional 'buyer' I deal with people selling me every day. Gus proved to be responsive, creative, provided full cost breakdown and overall a pleasant guy.

His crew executed the job on time and did extra to assure the quality of the work. Ie. the quote was for 2 layers but 3 layers were necessary to get the color right. No issue and not a point of discussion. Gus checked in regurarly and provided support out of scope.
